Finchale Priory | Durham
Durham is such a stunning city full of charm and cobblestone streets, but around ten minutes outside of the city lies Finchale Priory: a gorgeous set of ruins dating back to the 13th century. This place had been on my list for a few months and after I picked my car up from the garage, I headed over.
There's no entry fee, but you do have to pay a few pounds parking and it's worth noting that if you're paying by card the minimum spend is £5. You're asked to wear a mask if there are a number of people on the premises but there was literally one other person in the hour I was there.
I was so enamoured by this place from first pulling up in my car to leaving. It's such a gorgeous setting right on the river and I spent a good hour walking around and taking photos. I've since visited a few other, grander Abbey's and Priories, but this one is still unbelievably picturesque.
